The Story of English an Emmy Award winning nine-part television series, detailing the development of the English language. Co-written and Presented by Robert MacNeil, this TV mini-series is about the origins of the English language. Spanning from the 5th century AD to the language spoken today. The history of a language effect on cultures through the ages and being the a language spoken around the world.
The documentary series was originally broadcast on BBC and PBS. It was co-produced by MacNeil-Lehrer Productions and the BBC in 1986. There is also a companion book.
