On October 25, 1415, a mighty French army numbering 30,000 surveyed the small English force that stood before them, ready for battle. The French expected a swift and comprehensive victory, but as this day of great savagery unfolded it was the English, led by their charismatic King Henry V, who would utterly destroy the enemy. This DVD features a superb, accurate reconstruction of the great battle, plus dramatized “eyewitness” accounts taken from contemporary records. State-of-the-art mapping techniques, period imagery, and expert commentary and analysis from Dr. David Chandler provide an informative, entertaining account of the battle. Brian Blessed narrates.
This episode of the War File’s THE HISTORY OF WARFARE series chronicles the 1415 Battle of Agincourt, in which England’s King Henry V made excellent use of the longbow to lead his outnumbered troops into victory against the French during the Hundred Years’ War. The decisive battle is brought to life through dramatic reenactments and computer imagery, with historical context provided by voiceover narration from actor Brian Blessed and expert commentary from historian Dr. David Chandler.
