Morgan Spurlock begins the series by touching down in sunny Florida. He is traveling to meet Billy Mitchell, star of Seth Gordon’s cult documentary “King of Kong.” Billy is the controversial gamer whom everybody loves to hate, a man of legendary bravado and mullet, a genius of the joystick. But what effect did the film have on his life? Did he mind being cast as the baddie? And is he still the king of “Donkey Kong”? Morgan is on his way to find out.

But before he gets there, Morgan counts down from No. 50 to 41, gaining insights from a range of directors and commentators, including Kevin Macdonald; Jeffrey Blitz; Seth Gordon; Stacy Peralta; Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman; Donna DeLory; Alex Gibney; Brian Graden; Nanette Burstein; and Henry Rollins.

Rural Missouri is the location for this episode in which Morgan Spurlock cruises past the farms and fields on his way to meet Levi O’Brien, young preacher and star of Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady’s controversial hit “Jesus Camp.”

The film examined the hysterical (in several senses) antics at Pastor Becky Fisher’s evangelical children’s summer camp where the kids were encouraged to speak in tongues and told that Harry Potter was the devil. Fisher was widely criticized in the aftermath and the camp (temporarily) closed. But what about the kids? The documentary is now five years old and Levi in his late-teens. Morgan ventures into the world of Christian fundamentalism to find out.

Notable interviewees include Penelope Spheeris; Alex Gibney; Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky; Al Gore; Stacy Peralta; Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady; Nick Broomfield; Luc Jacquet; Tony Hawk; Jared Leto; and Aisha Tyler.

Renowned documentarian and host Morgan Spurlock continues to count down the 50 most powerful, provocative and moving documentaries from the past 25 years. As Spurlock travels across America in search of modern documentary’s most iconic directors and eccentric characters, he reveals films number 30 through 21 and motors through the deserts of California. In Los Angeles, he finally meets up with mercurial Mr. Brainwash from Banksy’s hit film “Exit Through the Gift Shop” (2010) all in an effort to find out whether he is real or an elaborate art hoax.

Spurlock kicks off this leg of his journey with Michael Moore, who talks about what drove him to make the box office hit “Fahrenheit 9/11.” From there, he interviews other top filmmakers along the way, including Henry Rollins, Joan Churchill, Brian Graden, and ‘Exit’ producer Jaimie D’Cruz.

Morgan Spurlock nears the top films as he continues to count down the 50 most powerful, provocative and moving documentaries from the past 25 years. As Spurlock travels across America in search of modern documentary’s most compelling directors and iconic subjects, he heads to Pittsburgh to find out if the transvestite ball scene, so memorably captured in the 1990 cult film “Paris Is Burning” is still raging in all its voguing, pose-striking glory.

Along the road, he interviews some of the countdown’s top filmmakers and authors, including Nick Broomfield, Jared Leto, and Aisha Tyler.

Morgan Spurlock finally reaches the top 10 films on the list of “50 Documentaries to See Before You Die.” After weeks spent traveling across America in search of modern documentary’s most iconic directors and compelling subjects, Spurlock ends his journey in Illinois. There he meets Steve James, the director of “Hoop Dreams,” along with the film’s stars Arthur Agee and William Gates to talk about what made the documentary memorable.

Notable interviewees include: Al Gore; Michael Moore; Errol Morris; D. A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus; Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman; Tony Hawk and Jack Osbourne.
