From the 1,100 miles of coastal waters to the high deserts, the giant sequoias to Sierra Nevada mountains, the 159 California Game Wardens patrol all of the states 159,000 square miles. It’s a beat that’s home to a human population of 36 million, and a habitat and wildlife diversity that is unequaled by any other state. Working alone, or with a canine companion, they work day and night, often patrolling rural areas where back-up can be hours away. Every day is an adventure, and no two days the same, as we go on patrol with the California Game Wardens.

In this series we follow the lives of California’s Game Wardens, on call 24/7, as they defend against human threats to the environment, endangered wildlife, and the cultivation of illegal drugs. On foot, by car or off-road vehicle, by plane, or by boat, Game Wardens do it all. As the only line of defense in these sparsely populated, and often deadly places, this small group of law enforcement officers are constantly in pursuit of poachers, polluters, and illegal marijuana growers; while still making sure hunters and anglers follow the rules.

Warden Boyd takes an unusual approach to catching bear hunters red-handed in the premiere of the unscripted series, which follows California game wardens as they protect the state’s wildlife.

A marijuana grow site is uncovered near a children’s camp; Capt. Castillo and his team go after a man suspected of poaching deer and trading the meat for methamphetamines.

A saturation patrol is organized in San Francisco’s Chinatown, a hotbed for illegal trading in exotic spices and animal parts.

Wardens track a serial poacher who’s illegally killing pregnant does. Also: a suspect is caught with a stash of illegal deer meat and drugs on Halloween night; and stray arrows are found near homes in an upscale community.

Loaded guns are uncovered, along with methamphetamines, illegal bear parts and dozens of antlers, inside the cabin of a suspected mountain-lion poacher. Also: California game wardens reel in a boat after smelling marijuana.

Black market operators are caught selling piranhas on the Internet, and a late-night sting is orchestrated. Later, suspects try to flee after surveillance reveals poaching of red abalone.

Wardens go after an elusive group of pig poachers; a woman is caught feeding bears; a man tries to shoot a deer in his garden.

Wardens try to nab poachers at night; a family clash unfolds; a marijuana operation gets shut down.

Deer-hunting season begins, putting wardens on the lookout for outlaw hunters, including a doe poacher.

A remote ranch is raided, leading to the capture of a cruel and prolific poacher. Also: a meth user is stopped in a vehicle loaded with guns.

Wardens go undercover to track bear poachers and come across gold prospectors who are causing environmental damage.
