在二次大戰期間，日本人是如何背上非人道與野蠻的惡名？其實日本在一次大戰時因禮遇對待德國戰俘而獲得良好名聲，但是僅僅二十年後，日本人對中國人展現恐怖的壓迫，並且在新加坡、緬甸和馬來亞慘忍無情地對待戰俘。由於種族優越信念加上煽動特攻隊飛行員的榮辱觀念，所以激發出這些暴行，並造成大規模平民自殺，導致成千上萬的日本士兵選擇死亡而非投降。節目運用最新研究的檔案影片和實地拍攝的片段，訪談前日本士兵、神風特攻隊飛行員、盟軍戰俘與暴行受害人，將探討日本人的軍事暴行及戰時心態，揭露無法想像的非人道行為- 包括食人事见與釘十字架的酷刑-也揭露了神風特攻隊與集體自殺背後的複雜真相。
