Only ten minutes from the White House, green pioneer and architect, Travis Price, cantilevered his four-storey steel and glass dream home over a cliff so it barely touches the forest below. The breathtaking, copper-clad structure is supported by a series of metal rods and two 5,000 pound-counterweights, and features soaring ceilings, passive solar lighting, and a master bedroom that doubles as a tree house.
A couple moved from Anchorage, Alaska, to Mexico’s Baja peninsula to build their green dream home. Four miles from the closest powerlines, the remote oasis is completely powered by two rotating solar panels. Beyond the latest in technology, the brilliantly colored, ocean-side home also features simple energy-saving techniques, and breathtaking views of the Sierra de Laguna Mountains and of migrating whales that breach within meters of the shore.
